I started welding and fabricating at an early age. My skills continued to develop through my early years thank to my father and shop teacher. I joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and continued to develop my knowledge while working on AV8B Harriers and various types of gas, diesel, and turbine powered equipment. I also fabricated numerous types of parts for lifted trucks. I moved back to Iowa and bought a acreage where I began to work for farmers repairing and building equipment while working on machines in a factory at night. I soon joined the Iowa National Guard as a firefighter and again my welding and fabrication skills came to good use developing and creating protective equipment during my deployments to Iraq and other various places. I was a career firefighter for 20 years and continued to work on my days off form the fire department in my shop while continuing to grow my business.
My wife Alisa and I have 3 children and enjoy every moment with them. Our kids continue to grow and want to spend more and more time with dad in the shop working on many small projects.
I have always made unique gifts and creations to give to folks as gifts. After speaking with my wife in 2012 we decided to open a small shop in an old, remodeled barn where I could continue my passion of working with my hands. Olson Iron Works LLC was born and today I continue to do what I love making that idea you have come to life.
